Speech Language Pathology Assistant: Upland location
Vivian Martinez
Vivian earned her Bachelors in Linguistics from the University of California, Riverside and went on to earn her Post-Baccalaureate Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from Chapman University. Upon completion, she went on to obtain her license as a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant. In addition, she earned a Masters in Education and a Bilingual Authorization in Spanish from the University of California, Riverside.
During her educational and professional journey, she has earned an abundance of experience working with children ages 18 months to 18 years old. She has a considerable amount of experience working with the Spanish speaking population and is fluent in both English and Spanish. Also, she has various years of experience working in both a private clinic setting and a school based setting. Vivian believes in the research based theory of translanguaging, which honors an individual's full linguistic skills in their native language, rather than trying to narrowly focus on one language. She believes building vocabulary through the child’s first language can help a child feel confident in their speaking abilities.
In her free time, Vivian enjoys spending time with her family and her dog. She also enjoys traveling, baking, and going to the beach.
